Key Daily Passage & Cross References:

My conscience is clear, but that doesn’t prove I’m right. It is the Lord himself who will examine me and decide. So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time-before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due. (1 Corinthians 4:4-5 NLT)

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. (1 Corinthians 4:20 NLT)

Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience. (Titus 2:2 NLT)

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. (Titus 2:11-13 NLT)

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus-the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Acts 20:24 NLT)

But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:26-28 NLT)

How did you hear the Gospel or God’s truths & promises:

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. (1 Peter 1:18-19 NLT)

Prayer:

Father, thank you for reminding us that we are chosen, loved and called for a purpose. Help us to release the weight of human opinions and live boldly for Your Glory. Strengthen us to stand firm in your truth, set boundaries where needed and focus on the mission you’ve entrusted to us. May we always seek your approval above all else.  Protect us from negativity and guide us with your spirit  and help us to shine as a light for you to the world. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.

Key Daily Passage & Cross References:

This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “BEHOLD, MY SERVANT WHOM I HAVE CHOSEN; MY BELOVED IN WHOM MY SOUL IS WELL-PLEASED; I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM, AND HE WILL PROCLAIM JUSTICE TO THE NATIONS.  HE WILL NOT QUARREL, NOR CRY OUT LOUDLY; NOR WILL ANYONE HEAR HIS VOICE IN THE STREETS. A BATTERED REED HE WILL NOT BREAK, AND A SMOLDERING WICK HE WILL NOT EXTINGUISH, UNTIL HE LEADS JUSTICE TO VICTORY. AND IN HIS NAME THE GENTILES (all the nations of the world) WILL HOPE [with confidence].” (Matthew 12:17-21 AMP)

“Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; My Chosen One in whom My soul delights. I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not call out or shout aloud, Nor make His voice heard in the street.  A broken reed He will not break [off] And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish [He will not harm those who are weak and suffering]; He will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not be disheartened or crushed [in spirit]; [He will persevere] until He has established justice on the earth; And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law.” (Isaiah 42:1-4 AMP)

Methods of Bible Study

Bible study is the intentional and systematic examination of the Bible to gain a deeper understanding of its teachings, history, and application to one’s life.

Here are some core concepts:

  • Observation: Carefully examining the text itself, noting details like key words, phrases, characters, plot points, and literary devices.
  • Interpretation: Seeking to understand the original meaning of the text within its historical and cultural context. This involves considering different viewpoints and seeking to discern the author’s intended message.
  • Application: Applying the insights gained from the text to one’s own life, thoughts, words, and actions. This may involve making changes in behavior, developing a deeper relationship with God, or sharing the message with others.

Bible study can be a personal or group activity, and there are various methods and approaches that individuals or groups may use.

Key takeaways:

  • Active engagement: Bible study is not passive reading; it requires active thought and engagement with the text.
  • Holistic approach: It involves more than just reading the words; it’s about understanding the meaning and applying it to life.
  • Growth and transformation: The goal of Bible study is not just to gain knowledge, but to grow in faith and allow God’s Word to transform lives.

The H.E.A.R. Bible study method is a simple yet effective way to engage with scripture. Here’s a breakdown:

  • H – Highlight: As you read, mark verses or phrases that stand out to you. These could be things that are confusing, inspiring, or that you feel God is speaking to you through.
  • E – Explain: After highlighting, take time to explain what you’ve highlighted. What does it mean? How does it fit into the context of the surrounding verses and the book as a whole?
  • A – Apply: How can you apply these truths to your own life? What changes do you need to make? What actions can you take?
  • R – Respond: How will you respond to what you’ve learned? This could involve prayer, journaling, sharing with others, or making a commitment to change.

Key Benefits of the H.E.A.R. Method:

  • Engaging: It encourages active participation with the text, going beyond simply reading.
  • Personalized: It allows for individual insights and applications, making the study relevant to your own life.
  • Action-Oriented: It focuses on how to apply God’s Word to your daily life, leading to practical changes.
  • Simple: The method is straightforward and easy to understand, making it accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Tips for Using the H.E.A.R. Method:

  • Create a dedicated time and space: Find a quiet place where you can focus without distractions.
  • Use a journal: This will help you record your thoughts, insights, and applications.
  • Be patient: Don’t rush through the process. Take your time to reflect and allow God to speak to you.
  • Pray for guidance: Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the truths of scripture.

The H.E.A.R., Bible study method was developed by Robby Gallaty, founder of Replicate Ministries.

Prayer:
Father, I am eternally grateful that you help me during the storms of life. Give me courage to fully trust in your presence, provision, and perfect timing. And help me to stand firm against the evil one’s devious attacks.
