An overseer, then, must be above reproach* , the husband of one wife, **temperate** , self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, **skillful in teaching , *(1 Timothy 3:2 NASB)
Older men are to be temperate , dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance. (Titus 2:2 NASB)
The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, skillful in teaching, patient when wronged, (2 Timothy 2:24 NASB)
Deacons likewise must be men of dignity , not insincere, not prone to drink much wine, not greedy for money, (1 Timothy 3:8 NASB)
but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. (1 Timothy 3:9 NASB)
But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart,* from a good conscience, and **from a sincere faith . *(1 Timothy 1:5 NASB)
Be on guard for yourselves* and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to **shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. *(Acts 20:28 NASB)

A Call to Prayer
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and mankind, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

Remembrance of Me – Reverence for Our Savior – Look to Jesus
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:28-29 NASB)
Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan, coming to John to be baptized by him. But He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me. ‘And in vain do they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”
there is nothing outside the person which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which come out of the person are what defile the person.”
For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, (Mark 7:6-8,15-16,21 NASB)
Repentance Gratitude Obedience – All on the strength and promises of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Not on what I can do in my self but outside my self from Christ Jesus!

Explanation of the Parable
1. Hear the word, immediately evil one takes it away
2. Hear the word, receive it with joy, but when trouble ensues quickly fall [from the faith] away
3. Hear the word, but the worries of the world, deceitfulness of wealth \& other desires chokes out the word and becomes unfruitful
4. Hear the word, accept it and bear good fruit, thirty, sixty, a hundred times as much
